The Project Manager (Technical) - The Project Manager (Technical) - Subledger is responsible for ensuring full life-cycle phase deliverable identification/execution, effective issue-risk-dependency management and facilitating/driving stakeholder committee meetings and project level governance.  The incumbent should be results oriented, resourceful, hands-on, with solid application development background, project management experience, good business acumen and strong communicator.  Needs to be detail oriented in working through issues with business partners, stakeholders and technical staff to ensure that projects are successful (from a requirements, functional & technical design, build and implementation perspective).

 

 

 

Responsibilities

- Interfaces with Finance Transformation I.T. PMO, Corporate CIO leader and associated Finance stakeholders regarding initiative by communicating status, risks and potential scope changes

- Supports the project ensuring full life-cycle phase deliverables, effective issue-risk-dependency management and stakeholder committee meetings and project level governance

- Develops integration strategy, conversion strategy and implementation plan with business and I.T. input  along with other strategic initiatives as necessary

- Provides guidance around creation of design, implementation and testing plan

- Provide technology inputs for functional design in the end-state architecture

- Collaborate and review with Accounting Events and Calculations work stream on accounting calculations, source systems, accounting treatment, etc.

- Detail oriented individual that is expert in working through issues with stakeholders and technical staff to ensure that projects are successful

- Gets involved with testing functionality to validate it against requirements, including defining reconciliation approaches to ensure accuracy of calculated & displayed amounts to meet requirements

- Identify, analyze, and drive problems to resolution, handling complex issues simultaneously while effectively communicating across teams

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

- 5+ years experience in development and support of financial close processing and financial analytics and reporting in the Financial Services Industry

- Deep understanding of the functional and technical architecture components required to build out the end state of the source to post financial close architecture component-based solution

- Prior experience using  ETL, Subledger and warehousing tools is important:  Informatica, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SSRS, and Oracle Analytics / OBIEE

- Background in and understanding from an IT support and delivery perspective in Statutory, Regulatory, Tax, and Management reporting is preferred 

- Knowledge of architecture and data management standards and frameworks including source systems, accounting rules, ETL and financial data management processes

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven experience working with all levels of management

- Financial Services and / or Insurance industry experience with financial accounting, reporting and analytics (insurance experience preferred)

- Thorough knowledge and at least 5 + years of experience utilizing the project management lifecycle as defined by the Project Management Institute or by the SCRUM Alliance

- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Strong communication and client management skills.

- Proficiency with MS Project

 

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and/or Finance/Accounting

- 5 to 10 years of managing simultaneous, enterprise level Finance IT projects in a 3,500+ global user environment

- Public accounting or global finance experience required

 

Certifications

- PMP Certification or Certified SCRUM Master preferred

- Experience working on business accounting and financial analytic project(s) is required; knowledge of business event/accounting event software preferred.
