Senior Geologist – Applied Geosciences - Vancouver

The team has a strong focus on the analysis, synthesis and interpretation of exploration data, particularly as it is related to the definition and assessment of orebodies. As a result of growth within the organization they are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Level Geologist with a background in Resource Estimation/Block Modeling to oversee the delivery of key Resource Geology projects in Hard Rock Mining.

Being a methodical and analytical Resource Geologist who be a key component in maintaining and develop computer systems used for geological interpretation and resource modeling whilst being a senior figure in driving the resource and reserve governance process. You will be experienced in preparing business plans and budgets for the Resource Geology team and ensure appropriate standards are set and maintained for geological interpretations, resource modeling and estimation, and public reporting
 
Being a natural leader both with people and technical you will demonstrate responsibility for all contracts for the Resource Geology team, generating mineral inventory forecasts, design and management of surface exploration programs, management of deep drilling programs, detailed open pit and underground mapping, data acquisition and validation, assessment of optimum drill hole spacing, structural analysis of ore deposits, geological interpretation, orebody modeling using state-of-the-art computer methods, wireframe modeling and orebody visualisation

To be successful in this role you will utiltize your BSc in Geology and have a post graduate qualification in Geostatistics, Resource Modeling or advanced level Mathematics and Geology. You will have substantial experience as a leader in Geology or Modeling within a Mining company and/or consulting company and have a proven background working in either hard rock Mining or Coal. You will have the ability to maintain relationships with many stakeholders through your strong leadership and management skills.
 
Technically you will have advanced level experience in orebody identification, delineation and
practical experience in operating mines covering all aspects of geological functions including drilling, sampling, QAQC, grade, dilution and cost control, reconciliation, reporting and liaison with mine engineering and surveying professionals.
You will have practical experience with geological modeling, domaining, statistical analyses, variogram analyses, cross-validation and reconciliation.
Having previous experience with a wide range of grade estimation techniques including ordinary kriging, multiple indicator kriging, co-kriging and conditional simulation from your previous Mining experience either for a consultancy or a Mine site. You will also have experience with the application of advanced geostatistical methods including simulation, global change of support and uniform conditioning for estimation, risk management and operational.
Being an experienced Resource Geologist you will have an understanding of Geophysical data (surface and U/G) analysis and interpretation, geochemical and mineralogical investigation, definition and assessment of geotechnical zones, paleo-environment interpretation, grade prediction, sinkhole detection, delineation and alleviation
