JOB TITLE: SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

RATE: £40,000 to £50,000

You must be able to obtain SC level of security clearance for this position.

Our client is an established contractor providing simulation technology to the defence and aerospace industry. They provide a complete service from needs analysis to designing, delivering and supporting its many bespoke solutions.

They are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their busy team due to an increased workload and success with current projects. The Senior Software Engineer will have responsibility for a software team and will directly liaise with clients to understand new requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Responsibilities

*Learn and acquire best-practice programming skills in the chosen development environment, training and supporting other team members as required

*Work with other members of the team to design and develop systems of a standard suitable for customer use and to meet defined company quality requirements

*Carry out reviewing and testing of all software and systems as required

*Maintain and support suitable development systems and environments (software) as required

*Document all work in accordance with defined company quality requirements

*Share the customer support role by telephone, bulletin board and/or site visits

*Carry out technical interviews as required

*Represent the Software Group Leader as required

*Provide estimates

*Provide status reports, both verbal and written

*Develop and write proposals

*Conduct customer demonstration

*Lead a team of software engineers to deliver specific programme software as required

*Represent the company as required

*Work unsupervised on customer site as necessary

*Be aware of developments in the field’s site as necessary

*Other general duties as requested

 Qualifications/Experience

 *Experienced Windows C++ developer – ideally with experience using a compiler newer than Visual Studio 6

*Experience in software lifecycle – from requirement capture through to acceptance testing

*Experience in leading a team of developers

*Experience as a senior software engineer

*An ability to relate to the skills used within projects

*Clear communication skills

*A clean and current driving licence

Desirable

*Experience in Delphi programming

*Experience in SQL Server

*Experience in interfacing to hardware

*Experience in Estimating/bid work
