Company Summary:

Our client designs, produces and sells sporting goods products for the hunting and shooting sports markets, as well as military, government and law enforcement markets. It distributes its products throughout the U.S. and in over 55 foreign countries.

 

General Summary

Drafts detailed drawings of mechanical components and assemblies from rough or general design

drawings and generates basic to complex solid CAD models of individual components and

assemblies.

 

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)

  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics,

materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

  • Shows dimensions, tolerances, material, and performance specification, and other

information necessary to make detailed drawing clear and complete.

  • Makes tracing of finished drawing on semitransparent paper to check dimensional

accuracy of parts.

  • Makes corrections, revisions and changes to layouts necessary or desired.
  • Studies specifications, sketches, notes, and other design data and measures prior

layouts, using scales and dividers, to determine details and dimensions of

components being laid out from superimposed views and sections of parts on layouts.

  • Lays out on major or minor components, assemblies, or systems in full scale working

layouts.

  • Performs mathematical calculations to work out detailed additions to specifications.
  • Develops design of details not completely defined.
  • Projects sections and auxiliary views of components on layouts.
  • Coordinates and works in conjunction with other workers designing, laying out, or

detailing same or related structures.

  • Creates basic to complex solid models and associated assemblies from scratch

utilizing CAD software with minimal direction.

  • Designs minor components or assemblies from scratch or modifies existing designs.
  • Special projects may also be assigned.

Qualifications, Educational Skills and Experience

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year accredited or nationally recognized

college or technical school; and a minimum of three years related experience and/or

training.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional

journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,

business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present

information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and

customers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical

inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to

apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical

situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in

situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of

instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Working knowledge of SolidWorks Computer Aided Design (CAD) or equivalent

software. Working knowledge of PDMWorks or equivalent PDM software. Working

knowledge of Microsoft PC based software and tools.
