Job Description

The fastest growing open source employer in the mid-Atlantic is hiring an experienced web developer to build bad-ass interfaces for PHP/MySQL & Drupal websites.  If you want to work in a fun, creative environment as part of a close-knit team and get exposure to some of the most interesting new open source technologies, we need to talk.  The new team member will quickly get engaged on new client work—of which there is plenty—primarily customizing Drupal using PHP applications built over CakePHP.  The team also has a need for contributions using jQuery and AJAX to implement complex logic structures for user interface.  The types of projects you will work on in this role vary in size and scope, but all require the ability to wrap your head around a complex problem and crank out solid code that makes beautiful sites do cool stuff!

This is a very capable development team, who learn from and teach a lot to each other as they work together.  This position has a great deal of autonomy to research and create solutions, but everyone on the team is willing to lend a hand (or a little brain power) to take on an interesting challenge.  It's a shared effort, which means it will also be part of the responsibilities in this role to help junior developers with questions and empower them to develop their skills in research and creativity.

Experience we're looking for
•    Bachelors Degree, preferably in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
•    2+ years of professional experience as a web developer
•    PHP skills (seriously real skills, no fakers)
•    MySQL database work, including stored procedures, triggers, and performance management
•    Understanding of W3C compliance for HTML & CSS code
•    Deployment of a Drupal website from cradle to grave
•    Development of Drupal custom modules
•    Theming a Drupal website template

Preferred Experience (or what you'll get to learn if you don't already know!)
•    Smarty templating, CakePHP, Linux, Apache, Javascript and frameworks, especially jQuery, version control, .NET experience, DotNetNuke, .NET MVC, Drupal Zen & WordPress Theming
