Oracle Application DBA
We are looking for a skilled database administrator to assist in configuring, supporting & tuning a large Oracle 10g RAC operational database.
Our IT team is looking for an individual with proactive approach to problems who can work with a team to tackle challenging performance and functional goals and issues. The position’s responsibilities will include consulting with members of the development team to provide advice and guidance in the design, configuration and optimization of highly available database management systems in a distributed applications environment.
This role will have a particular emphasis on Oracle database management, deployment and tuning. Qualified candidates should have experience in data modeling and logical database design as well as practical experience in deployment of physical Oracle databases based on logical designs. This will include but not be limited to physical construction of tables, indexes, normalization, sizing, optimization and tuning. The Database Administrator will also perform all necessary administrative duties necessary for proper maintenance of development and test environments supporting development for and certification of production systems.
Requirements of the Position:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the following areas:
Overall DBMS experience:
At least 3 of the 5 years with direct experience in Oracle 10g or above.
Experience in support of Oracle Clustered databases is required.
Additional experience in support of SQL Server databases is highly desirable.
Designing and sizing distributed database management systems to meet specified non-functional application requirements.
Monitoring, analysis and tuning of distributed database management systems to achieve optimum performance.
Developing relational database models using a tool such as ERWIN or Rational.
Developing logical data models from existing business requirements.
Data analysis - interviewing subject matter experts and documenting requirements.
Data design - data modeling and logical database design.
Transition of logical database models to physical databases.
Physical database maintenance and tuning.
The position requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
Although not required, preference will be given to candidates with airline and/or freight logistics experience.
