Group Business Development Manager

Primarily office based (North west), with willingness to travel throughout the UK as required

£55,000 + Bonus to be agreed

 

Our award winning client requires a Business Development Manager for the generation and development of new business opportunities.  The successful candidate will be a consummate and credible sales professional selling a sophisticated eMarketplace opportunity to Managing Directors, Operational Directors and Finance Directors of major blue chip companies in both the public and private sector.  The role is focused purely on new business and is suited to people who are ?sales hungry? and who can exploit their exceptional sales skills with effective and successful results.

The principal responsibilities of the Group Business Development Manager will be:

 

·         Annual Business Plan

·         You will develop new business relationships, generate and negotiate new income to an agreed annual target of £25m per annum spend capture at the agreed margin, to increase year on year by 20%;

·         Managing, maintaining and reporting (to the Management Team) a pipeline of opportunities and ensuring all sales administration is currently using Salesforce CRM software;

·         Actively and successfully manage the sales process:  lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solution pitch; negotiation; close; handover to the account management team;

·         You will have individual responsibility for new business, and are expected to self manage, however, you will be part of a growing team of people bringing through these exciting new opportunities;

·         Create and be accountable for all client proposals, contracts (with support) and any further documentation, following companies procedures and policies;

·         Possess drive, motivation and acute attention to detail in ensuring all sales opportunities are captured and explored;

·         A thorough understanding of clients marketing objectives;

·         Keeping abreast of issues affecting eMarketplace companies and industry for example, collecting competitor intelligence;

·         Responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner;

·         Responsible for your own lead generation and appointment setting;

·         Presenting the business to potential clients through direct communication in face to face meetings, telephone and email;

·         You will effectively interact with other departments including the account management and technical team when handing over clients ensuring you fully and correctly brief in all aspects of the process;

·         Support is available from the management team for complex large pitches and strategies;

·         As a representative of the business at industry events and trade shows, your professional manner and polished appearance will aid your intention of gaining new business leads and contracts;

·         Ensuring the business remains proactive and responsive to prospective clients;

·         You will spend a significant proportion of your time out of the office in client meetings.  Travel will be a factor and is predicted to be predominantly UK.

 

 

Skills, Knowledge, Experience required

 

  • Proven success in your sales ability and demonstrable full knowledge of the sales process;
  • Confident negotiator and ability to ?close the deal?;
  • Strong client management skills and ability to keep promises;
  • Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions;
  • A positive and determined approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities;
  • Ability to use own initiative and pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritise tasks;
  • Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone and presentation;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills;
  • A positive attitude to dealing with people;
  • Capable of working independently;
  • UK driving licence (own car);
  • A sound understanding of the UK and European online eMarketplace sector would be a distinct advantage.
