This company is a leading global metallurgical coal producer with operations in the U.S. and North East British Columbia. They have huge plans to increase production from their operations to meet continued demands for their product. The organisation has a commitment to health, safety and the environment.
The primary purpose of the Pit Supervisor is to oversee and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in open pit mining. Your responsibilities will also include but not be limited to studying contour maps and aerial photographs to determine locations for roads and cuts; supervise road construction crews and lay out blast patterns; supervise the drilling and blast crews and the detonation of charges. You will also be called upon to plan the location of dump sites to allow maximum room for stripping; coordinate stripping, drilling, blasting, loading activities and assists workers with faulty equipment.
You will have the experience required to enable you to determine property lines and legal limits of operations in order to comply with rights of adjoining property owners and mining laws.
To succeed in this role you should also have experience scheduling the running and major repair work on drilling machines and stripping and loading shovels among other mine site heavy equipment.
You will requisition supplies, such as explosives, lubricants, bits, machine parts and can observe the mining operation to detect violation of safety regulations and comply with the company's safety code of conduct and production records. Supervision of crushing operations, training new workers, and other duties as required.
