Job Description

Position Summary: 

Our client located on the South Shore is currently looking for a Director of User Experience, (UX Director) to join their Web Marketing Department.  The UX Director will develop, communicate and implement the user experience across our e-commerce platform and mobile applications.  We are extremely customer driven and continuously strive for the highest standards of service, which makes UX a central part of the success of the company.   You will build alignment within the company on the UX vision and put means in place to assure this vision continues to adapt and sharpen based on our customers’ needs.  You will work hand-in-hand with the creative director to assure your roles promote one another and you find the point where brand and business goals are met while following best UX practices.  You will mentor a talented team of designers and front-end developers to align all customer-facing projects with this vision.  You will be hands-on and be the lead UX designer/developer on key strategic projects.  You will build a wealth of UX knowledge based on strategically positioned tests, focus groups, site analytics and known industry best practices.  

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for developing, communicating and implementing the user experience across our ecommerce platform and mobile applications
  • Lead & build UX design and front end development on key strategic projects
  • Build alignment within the company on the UX vision and put means in place to assure this vision continues to adapt and sharpen based on our customers’ needs
  • The lead UX designer/developer on key strategic projects
  • Work closely with the companies brand and business leaders to ensure UX consistency and cohesiveness
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience in many of the following:

  • UX/UI design and best principles and of web and interactive design fundamentals
  • Excellence in information architecture (simple, organized, optimized)
  • User research (feedback methods, focus groups, data analysis and recommendations)
  • Page level wireframes and mockups
  • Front end development (building HTML/CSS & object oriented JavaScript)
  • Strong cross-functional communications skills; verbal, written, and visual
