Job Description

Career Transitions, LLC is working with a client in Warsaw, IN who

is seeking an EHS Manager.  The client has been in business for

100+ years and is the #1 manufacturer in their industry.  This is a

full-time, direct hire position. 


This position is responsible for the continuous development and effective implementation of the Environmental, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. The EHS Manager is ultimately responsible for having an effective workplace environmental, health and safety program and culture in place.



·Provides overall leadership, professional knowledge and

expertise in the administration and support of Environmental,

Health and Safety processes


·Stay current on existing and proposed environmental, health

 and safety regulations while providing recommendations for changes to current policies/practices based on new or revised regulations; provide details on regulations through research, case studies, and letters of interpretation; provide advice and counsel concerning compliance, laws, codes, regulations, best practices and standards

·Directs resources and activities of the three facilities to support the Environmental, Health and Safety

·Continually maintains an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the US sites to create a culture that prioritizes effective safety and balances overall associated costs and is reflective of a commitment to an illness and injury free workplace

·Develops, manages and monitors standards, processes, communications and training to help ensure a safe workplace

·Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment and practices, in order to help ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations

·Maintain and enforce safety plans and policies to correct unsafe behaviors and work conditions by utilizing knowledge of industrial processes and mechanics, health and safety laws, best practices, and environmental compliance; advise management of the effectiveness of these programs, the need for corrective or preventive action, and the implications of related laws and regulations

·Designs, implements and maintains effective environmental, health, and safety programs that comply with relevant regulations, international standards for EH&S programs (ISO-14001 and OHSAS-18001) and the Company?s management system requirements; Create and maintain process documentation including process flow charts, policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, and records as appropriate.

·Help prepare and retain emergency response plan and procedure

·Performs leadership role in designing, implementing, and maintaining programs that ensure timely reporting, investigation, and corrective actions of workplace injuries and/or illnesses; coordinate employee work restrictions, days away from work, and return to work with human resources to minimize impact to employee and the company and to effectively handle any employee relations issues and ensure compliance with workers? compensation policies

·Act as point-of-contact with governmental agencies, safety vendors/consultants, insurance carriers, 3rd party registrars or others for all site-visits, audits and investigations concerning environmental, health and safety programs

·Maintain records of incidents/accidents and prepares required government reports; completes and posts OSHA 300 log at required locations and times

·Develop and conduct high-energy training for employees for emergency actions, hazard communication, powered industrial trucks, use of safety equipment, safety laws and regulations and other environmental, health & safety topics; coordinate required training with new employee or manager orientation to ensure compliance with training requirements

·Establish audits, drills, and measurements to measure and test the effectiveness of the programs and verify compliance with regulatory laws and Company policies; recommend and implement corrective and preventive measures

·Provide administrative oversight to the operations of the company?s First Responder Team, which includes managing certifications, training and member participation and effectiveness

·Assist in determining annual budgets; operate within budget parameters for all activities including training, safety equipment, safety recognition activities, etc.

·Design, implement, and maintain programs to ensure employees have access to required personal protective equipment (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc.) and necessary first aid supplies

·Design, implement, and maintain programs to ensure that equipment is maintained or verification as required to ensure safe operation (emergency lights, company trucks, hoists, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, AEDs, etc.)

·Maintain confidentiality of personal employee and/or confidential company information; adhere to laws and government regulations relating to privacy protection standards in the workplace

·Act with ethics and integrity by reporting non-compliance

·Timely escalate unusual or complicated issues to management

·Perform other duties deemed necessary to support the Company?s business operations



Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

·Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA/Environmental laws and regulations for Indiana, Ohio, Kansas

·Proven ability to determine root causes of accidents and implement corrective actions

·Strong leadership and proactive problem solving skills

·Broad knowledge of health, safety, and environmental principles, practices and procedures

·Proven ability to communicate and present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form

·Proven ability to write technical documents such as procedures and specifications

·Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Outlook (or related e-mail system)

·Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs

·Must have a high level of analytical ability and the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law

·Be detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills

·Proven ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and as a team leader

·Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information


Minimum Education and Experience Required:

·BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field; or a suitable level of experience and expertise in lieu of a degree

·Ten (10) years of professional safety/health experience in a manufacturing environment



Preferred Qualifications:

·Experience with ISO14001 or OHSAS-18001 management systems
