Our client, a highly respected financial services firm based in the North East has retained Starpoint Executive Search on an exclusive basis to fill a number of key roles in their organization including a Lead Systems Analyst position focused on applications which support the Equity Portfolio Managers and Traders. This role will combine both systems analysis/design and the ability to write code to put the analysis into action. The keys to the position are:

Analysis:

• Ability to analyze needs, document requirements and assist in design of solutions
• Proven ability to support multiple applications simultaneously while managing milestones effectively

Technology:

• Minimum 6 years experience developing for small to medium performance critical applications
• Object Oriented concepts including design/development using Java based technologies
• Spring Framework
• Web-services, XML/XSLT, JSON
• Messaging frameworks especially using JMS (Active MQ is a plus)
• Scripting tools (Perl or Shell Scripts, etc.)
• Rich Client Application GUI ( Eclipse RCP or Java Swing preferred)
• Software development methodologies (Agile or RUP, etc)
• Good SQL skills
• Excel VBA macros is a plus

Business Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of the investment process, support and client management, research workflows, equity and derivative securities and market data services e.g. Bloomberg desktop and Server APIs, FactSet, etc.
• Financial instrument knowledge and any work towards achieving the CFA (or related) charter will be a plus
