Position: Sr Software Application Developer - (CICS/COBOL/DB2 & VB.NET)

MUST HAVE Enhanced reliability security clearance;
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned developer with experience in CICS/COBOL and VB .NET in a DB2 environment. The developer will be responsible for reviewing user requests, gathering user requirements, analyze and determine the most efficient and effective approach to provide a solution, model, code/modify and document the solution in the pre-production environments, and prepare the install package to hand over to the application support group to implement the solution in the production environment after receiving client approval. Throughout this process the developer will interact with other application developers and client as often as appropriate.

The knowledge, skills and experience the developer must have to be successful in providing these services to our clients are:

KNOWLEDGE
Thorough knowledge of the Z/OS and Windows 2003 environments is essential;
Knowledge of the CMHC business environment will be an asset;
Knowledge of, and exposure to, IT application development in an insurance or financial environment;
Knowledge of the following will be a significant asset:
o Mortgage insurance information systems
o The mortgage insurance business environment
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
8-10 years experience in progressively responsible positions in IT;
8-10 years experience coding in CICS/COBOL;
5 years experience coding embedded SQL to access a relational RDBMS,
1 year experience with DB2 stored procedures;
5 years experience in coding embedded Z/OS MQSeries;
Knowledge of, and exposure to, IT application development in an insurance or financial
environment;
Experience programming with Visual Basic and/or VB .Net is an asset;
Experience with the development and maintenance of VB .Net applications is an asset;
Knowledge of object oriented programming in VB .Net is an asset;
Experience coding DB2 stored procedures is an asset;
Experience using Microsoft Visual SourceSafe is an asset;
Extensive familiarity with TSO, ISPF and proficiency in JCL and other IBM utilities;
Application development lifecycle methodology;
Preparing technical documentation;
Analytical and technical skills;
Experience working in a team environment;
Written and verbal communication skills;
